Orthotics

Any small inefficiency in the foot's mechanical system can predispose you to injury. Orthotics are inserts that go in your shoes that aim to reduce biomechanical stresses by putting your foot in a more ideally supported position. They perform functions that make standing, walking, and running more comfortable by maximizing your biomechanical efficiency. Custom made orthotics crafted by podiatrists, chiropractors, and physical therapists can be very beneficial but they can be very expensive often costing $400-500. This leads to patients who would benefit from intervention being unable to do so because of cost.  We offer orthotic management that is semi-custom and effective, while also being cost effective.

Below are some of the conditions that can benefit from orthotic intervention, as well as, descriptions of the two types of products we offer.   The two products have different benefits, different longevity, and different price points. If you are interested in orthotic intervention, we encourage you to call and speak to Jason at (508) 829 - 3113. We can discuss the options available and help decide what would be best for you.

The QUADRASTEP® SYSTEM is based on a clinical assessment algorithm which identifies and differentiates the structural and functional aspects of the foot into 6 specific foot "types".  After many years of fabricating custom orthotics for patients the developers of The QUADRASTEP® SYSTEM realized that many of the “custom” orthotics they were fabricating had very similar features.  They took this information and came up with 6 individual foot types that the majority of clients would fit into.  From there they developed 6 uniquely made pre-fabricated orthotics to address the needs of each of the foot types and an assessment that allows a clinician to properly select the foot type for each patient.

Each foot type influences not only the patients gait but the conditions and pathologies which may affect them throughout their lives.

The QUADRASTEP®SYSTEM approach to prescribing prefabricated functional foot orthoses is easy to use and brings immediate improvement to patients' symptoms. The 4 steps to selecting a device with the correct features are based on many years of clinical experience and scientifically researched evidence.

QUADRASTEP® orthoses are manufactured from an injection molded thermoplastic compound which has a unique combination of strength with a "soft-edge" feel which gives incredible support while maintaining high patient comfort and therefor improving patient compliance. The devices are a single piece incorporating all of the required postings, recesses and heel cup/sidewall heights to effectively treat the specific foot type diagnosed requiring no additional adjustments.

These devices are built out of durable materials and depending on use can last several years before needing replacement.  Cheaper over-the-counter “arch supports” are often worn out in a matter of months and require frequent replacement.  You may think you are saving money, but if you invest $30 every 4-6 months, over 2-3 yrs time you have spent more money on a cheaper quality, less custom and less effective device.  Quadrasteps at PT Innovations cost $150 which is about 1/3 the cost of typical “custom” devices with many of the same benefits.
